Life in the UKMOCK & PRACTICE

Official-source test guide

Who does not need the Life in the UK Test?

Check the guidance for your application. GOV.UK lists several situations where you do not need to take the test.

Age

People under 18 and people aged 65 or over do not need to take the test. Being exactly 18 is different from being under 18.

If you have already passed

You do not need to take the test again if you passed previously, for example for settlement before a later citizenship application. Keep the evidence of your earlier pass.

Long-term conditions

A long-term physical or mental condition may support an exemption. GOV.UK requires an exemption form or a doctor’s letter confirming the condition. Read the official requirements rather than assuming that any illness qualifies.

Your application route

The test is one element of some settlement and citizenship routes. Check the application guidance and form for your own circumstances; this practice site cannot decide eligibility.

Quick answer

Do I need the test at age 65?

GOV.UK lists people aged 65 or over as exempt.
